Replace the energy system with a low-carbon one

Energy aid aims to promote the use of renewable energy and increase energy efficiency. Energy aid can be used for investments that increase the use or production of renewable energy or to promote energy-saving investments.

News

  • The energy aid application service has been closed for the time being on December 31, 2022 at 24:00. The sending of new and unfinished energy aid applications will be blocked at that time due to the change in Business Finland's processing process and the upcoming change to the energy aid regulation. The application service will be reopened for new applications approximately 15.3.2023 but the date will not be confirmed until March.

  • When submitting new applications, you should take a look at the 2023 guidelines for energy aid, as they contain some significant changes compared to the previous ones!

  • We have improved the application structure and made it easier to complete, e.g., by omitting the attachment forms for investment projects. The project plan is still mandatory because it complements and specifies the content of the application.

  • In the case of survey projects, the previous attachment forms will remain in use.

  • Unprocessed applications received by December 31, 2022 will be processed from March 13, 2023 onwards, but the grant decisions will be published later.

  • We have improved the application structure and made it easier to complete, e.g., by omitting the attachment forms for investment projects. For survey projects, the attachment forms will remain in use, and a project plan can be used to further refine and supplement the application’s content.
  • No decisions will be made on pending applications until the new energy aid regulation is approved!

  • Due to the rapidly increased number of applications, the processing time for applications is approximately two months.

Energy aid

Energy aid can be granted for investment and investigation audit projects that promote the production and use of renewable energy, energy saving, more efficient production or utilization of energy, or otherwise contribute to a low-carbon energy system in the long term. The aid must have a significant impact on launching the project.

The energy aid is paid based on the actual costs reported by your organization. The investment costs of the project must be at least EUR 10,000 (energy efficiency) or EUR 30,000 (renewable energy), and there is no upper limit on the size of the project. The funding is provided as an aid and does not need to be repaid. Aid is not granted for projects launched before the aid decision is made. At the earliest, the aid can be granted to cover costs arising as of the date of the funding decision.

What is required of your organization?
  • A renewable energy production, energy saving, or energy audit project that has not yet been launched.
  • The size of your organization does not matter.
  • Your organization is a community or company that is not a farm, is not active within the framework of fisheries or aquaculture products, is not a housing company or residential property, and does not receive funding from the state budget.
